Rights Group Condemns New Proposed Rule Allowing Federal Contractors to Discriminate for "Religious" Reasons

August 14, 2019, New York – In response to the Trump administration’s new proposed rule, Implementing Legal Requirements Regarding the Equal Opportunity Clause’s Religious Exemption, which would allow government contractors to discriminate and still receive federal funds, the Center for Constitutional Rights issued the following statement:

This proposed rule is the latest effort by the Trump administration and right-wing forces to turn back the clock to the 1950s for LGBTQIA+ people and other minorities. No one should be given a license to discriminate in 2019, let alone while receiving taxpayer dollars.
