Please join us on President's Day for a special Freedom Flicks screening of the Academy Award-nominated film SPOTLIGHT, followed by a short program and Q&A with honored guest Phil Salvino and CCR Senior Staff Attorney Katherine Gallagher.

Starring Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton and Rachel McAdams, SPOTLIGHT tells the true story of the Boston Globe’s Pulitzer Prize-winning exposé of the decades-long cover-up of sexual violence in the Boston Archdiocese. While the film is a classic journalism story and has been compared to “All the President’s Men,” the filmmakers were careful to also keep the focus on the substantive story behind the journalism drama, including highlighting the efforts of Phil Saviano, a local leader of the Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests (SNAP), to document the cover-up.

In 2011, Phil joined SNAP and CCR at The Hague to urge the International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor to investigate the Vatican for crimes against humanity. CCR and SNAP have continued to work together to highlight the ongoing, systemic, and global nature of this crisis in international fora. Learn more by visiting our case page.
