Judge: U. of I. must turn over e-mails in lawsuit over rescinded job offer

A Champaign County judge has ordered the University of Illinois to turn over thousands of pages of emails sought by a professor suing the school over a rescinded job offer.

Judge Thomas Difanis said Friday that the university must turn over emails requested under the Freedom of Information Act by Steven Salaita and his attorneys. They believe the emails contain relevant information.

The university had maintained the request was so large that it created an undue burden.

Salaita attorney Maria LaHood says the judge agreed the release of the emails is in the public interest. ...
