Inspiration from Isolation
Please join us Sunday, March 15th at 12:30 pm in Inglewood for Inspiration from Isolation, a presentation featuring CCR President Jules Lobel discussing new expert evidence in Ashker v. Brown, our lawsuit challenging long term solitary confinement.
California Families Against Solitary Confinement (CFASC) and Family Unity Network (FUN) are welcoming Jules, who is lead counsel in Ashker, for the first public discussion on what independent experts found in the Pelican Bay prison. These reports highlight recent scientific and legal developments which confirm that prolonged solitary confinement constitutes cruel and inhumane punishment and constitutes a powerful indictment of California's practices in keeping people in solitary for decades at a time.
Jules will also talk about the remarkable resistance and leadership that prisoners have exercised in the face of extraordinary circumstances and provide an overview of where our lawsuit is today.
