Last month, the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) celebrated a major victory when we won an injunction in ACORN v. USA against Congress’ unconstitutional de-funding of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) for the second time. A federal judge ordered the United States government and several federal agencies to rescind orders cutting off funding to ACORN and its affiliates and allies.
But the  Government has appealed the judge’s ruling and now seeks a stay pending a final decision on that appeal.  If granted, the stay would continue the funding cut-off for several more months or longer, which would be devastating for ACORN, its allied organizations, and the thousands of poor and working class people on behalf of whom it works. Pack the court next Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. to take a stand against Congress’ unconstitutional targeting of a community organization and poor and working class people.

What:  Hearing in ACORN v. U.S.A.
When:  Thursday, April 20, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. (arrive between 9:00 and 9:30 a.m. for security and seating)
Where: United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, 500 Pearl Street, 9th Floor, New York, NY 10007

By singling out ACORN, Congress acted as judge, jury and executioner without a trial or judicial hearing. Thank you for standing with ACORN and to stop the right wing’s unconstitutional targeting of progressive organizations.
