Join UC Berkeley Law Students for Justice in Palestine for South Africa v. Israel: A Discussion of the ICJ Ruling and Its Legal and Political Implications on Friday, March 8, from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30p.m. PST. UC Berkeley professor Samera Esmeir will moderate this discussion among panelists: Astha Sharma Pokharel, Center for Constitutional Rights staff attorney; Laila ElHaddad, Palestinian journalist, author, activist; and Zainab Ramahi, Berkeley Law Alumna and attorney with Keker Van Vest and Peters.
Panelists will discuss the recent International Court of Justice case brought by South Africa against Israel for charges of genocide committed against the Palestinian people in Gaza, and cover the legal and social implications of the ICJ trial, the significance of domestic legal advocacy amidst a climate of intense suppression of pro-Palestinian voices, and more.
The event is co-sponsored by the Human Rights Center at Berkeley Law, the Miller Institute for Global Challenges and the Law, and the Berkeley Journal of International Law.
