Jen Nessel is the Communications Coordinator at the Center for Constitutional Rights. She has responsibility for managing press, media training spokespeople, refining messaging, and shaping and placing opinion pieces. Prior to coming to the Center for Constitutional Rights in January 2004, she worked as a writer, editor, and organizer. She served as the communications director of the Coalition for the Homeless and managed and produced the anti-war events "The Lysistrata Project" and "Operation Strangelove". Her articles have appeared in publications including The New York Times, The Nation, The New Yorker, The Huffington Post, Newsday, The New York Daily News, Self Magazine, Condé Nast Traveler, Lingua Franca, and Salon. She is the co-author with Lizzy Ratner of the satirical book Goodnight Nanny-Cam, published by Penguin Plume in 2014. As an undergraduate, she was a founding trainer of the Grass Roots Organizing Workshops and co-director of a rape crisis center.
