June 11, 2026, New York – In response to the Trump Administration’s third country deportation scheme, Korbin Felder, Justice Fellow at the Center for Constitutional Rights, issued the following statement:
The Trump Administration is racing to put people on planes and send them to countries they have no connection to, treating human beings as cargo instead of people with rights. Despite having a pending request before the court, our client is being sent to the Central African Republic, a country where the U.S. government itself warns Americans not to travel because of armed conflict, kidnapping, and torture, while his wife and children remain in the United States. This is a deliberate attempt to evade judicial review – and it amounts to a death sentence for our client.
Before anyone is removed to a third country, they must have a meaningful opportunity to appear before a judge and to seek protection if they fear torture, persecution, or other serious harm. Sending people to places where they will face violence without even providing a fear screening is unconscionable and brazenly illegal. We demand that the Administration cancel this removal flight so that our client – and every person facing this fate – can receive the due process that the Constitution and our laws require.
