CCR Ally Women With A Vision’s Offices Targeted By Arson

On May 25, 2012, the offices of Women With A Vision, this year’s recipient of CCR’s Ally for Social Change Award, were deliberately targeted by arson.   The offices were ransacked and several fires were started inside.  Thankfully, no one was hurt.  There was, however, major fire damage to a room that contained education and outreach materials, and Women with a Vision is seeking emergency temporary quarters.  CCR strongly condemns this attack.  Women With A Vision has tirelessly and fearlessly served the New Orleans community for years, and recently led the successful campaign against Louisiana’s Crime Against Nature by Solicitation law.  This grassroots organization is one of CCR’s closest allies and partners in New Orleans.  We urge our supporters to consider contributing to Women With A Vision, so that they may rebuild and carry on their heroic work.
