Fear grips immigrant communities threatened by Trump’s ‘public charge’ proposal

“If you’re not wealthy, you’re not welcome.” Under the Trump administration’s proposed “public charge” rule, many green card and visa applicants could be turned down if they have low incomes or limited education because they'd be deemed more likely to need government assistance in the future. As the rule hangs in legal limbo, many are living in fear. We traveled to Coachella, California, to find out how communities are coping.
