Description 

This is a temporary, short-term position (four to five months) as the organization assesses the needs for permanent supervision of the IT and/or Facilities teams and their work.

The temporary IT and Facilities Director will lead and be responsible for the Center for Constitutional Rights’ overall technology and facilities, in alignment with the organization’s priorities. The temporary IT and Facilities Director is responsible for the management of the IT and Facilities and Office Services Teams.

  • Two (2) Technology Managers
  • IT and Facilities Associate (to be hired)

Responsibilities 

Management, Operations, and Supervision

  • Responsible for the overall management and operations of the IT and Facilities teams
  • Partner with IT Team and Facilities and Office Services Manager to lead organizational systems and infrastructure strategy, including technology infrastructure, information management, facility improvements, and office operations
  • Proactively anticipate and address impact of all operational changes, personnel decisions, and organizational shifts on all members of the organization
  • Oversee the office space planning and renovation initiative, hiring and working with consultant project managers, the Management Team, and staff (especially the Facilities and Office Services Manager) in ensuring progress toward goals and communication among stakeholders
  • Train, supervise, mentor, empower, and create professional development opportunities for IT and Facilities department staff
  • Develop and monitor goals and objectives for staff, including team/individual goals and work plans; prioritize as needed
  • Approve department staff requests for schedule modification, paid leave, and comp time accrual; monitor staff workload and make adjustments or arrange for coverage as needed
  • Provide staff with regular and constructive feedback
  • Help inform and shape the position profile for permanent coverage of the IT and/or Facilities teams

 

Operational Leadership and Strategy

  • Enhance the IT and Facilities teams’ ability to think creatively but pragmatically about sustainable growth, operational priorities, and organizational structure and design
  • Evaluate, develop, implement and maintain the internal systems, processes, and policies necessary for the organization to accomplish its strategic objectives in a manner that enhances communication, transparency, sustainability, and accountability across the organization

 

Departmental Leadership and Strategy

  • Actively model positive organizational culture, adherence to policies and protocols, respect for process, and the organization's mission, vision, and values
  • Constructively and critically engage with anti-racism and organizational culture shift efforts and initiatives
  • Ensure communication of relevant activities, developments, changes, etc., to all staff, via the organization’s communications channels (biweekly reports, email, staff meetings)
  • Prepare regular reporting on status of the organization’s IT and Facilities work for Board and Management Team (MT) as requested
  • Perform other responsibilities or lead projects as assigned by the Associate Executive Director

Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 10 years operations-related experience, including experience in a nonprofit leadership role, with demonstrated success leading IT and/or Facilities functions
  • Significant experience and demonstrated high level of competence managing staff and teams 
  • Previous experience in an interim or temporary position a plus
  • Commitment to open communication, teamwork and collaboration, accountability, and professionalism
  • Commitment to vigorous promotion of equity, diversity, and inclusion, and demonstrated cultural competence with respect to issues including but not limited to race, gender, sexuality, disability, religion, and class
  • Excellent leadership, planning and prioritization, communication, interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to be productive in a fast-paced environment with rapid changes and tight deadlines while maintaining a positive and professional attitude
  • Ability to anticipate problems and use judgment appropriately to plan solutions and manage obstacles as they arise
  • A belief in the mission of the Center for Constitutional Rights, a demonstrated commitment to social justice issues, and comfort working in progressive legal and advocacy social movement spaces

Location: The Center for Constitutional Rights is a hybrid work environment. In-office 2-3 days per week, subject to director's discretion.

Compensation 

Salary is commensurate with experience. The salary range for the position is $138,332 to $188,591.

Benefits include a one-hour paid lunch, plus sick days and holidays on a pro rata basis proportionate to the length of appointment.
