#This Stops Today  #11 Days of Action calls for an end to discriminatory and abusive policing and other systemic changes. CCR has signed on to endorse these #11DaysofAction and its accompanying 11 demands.

Wednesday, December 17th

On Wednesday, December 17th at 6:00 pm, people across New York City will hold a collective 7-minute die-in to symbolize the 7 minutes Eric Garner laid dead in the street after he was killed by the NYPD. Then they will rise-up to sing this song 11 times, for the 11 times Eric Garner cried, “I can’t breathe!” as he was held in an illegal chokehold.

Meet at one of the following locations at 5:30pm for the 6:00pm die-in:

BROOKLYN - Barclays Center, 620 Atlantic Ave. (near Flatbush Ave.) RSVP HERE

STATEN ISLAND - Staten Island Supreme Court (across from the ferry), led by the Garner family

Thursday, December 18th

6-8 pm Teach-in at Brooklyn Movement Center featuring CCR Advocacy Program Manager Nahal Zamani


 

Malcolm X Grassroots Movement (MXGM), Brooklyn Movement Center (BMC), Brooklyn NAACP and NAACP Legal Defense Fund are co-sponsoring this Brooklyn teach-in, training participants around specific ways to join and advance current resistance campaigns and actions!

6-8 pm, 375 Stuyvesant Avenue, Bed Stuy, RSVP here.


Friday, December 19th

4-6 pm #RiseUp4Ramarley!

Please join our partners as they hold a rally  in front of the DOJ building from 4 - 6 pm  to draw attention to the unjust killing of Ramarley Graham

3 pm Town Hall w/ Families Who've Lost Loved Ones to the NYPD

Mothers and other family members who have lost loved ones to the NYPD will tell their stories and lead a conversation about the importance of the current moment and the next steps we must take to build our movement and achieve real change.

Constance Malcolm, mother of Ramarley Graham (killed in 2012); Valerie Bell; mother of Sean Bell (killed in 2006); Nancy Pacheco, sister-in-law of Jayson Tirado (killed in 2007); and Iris Baez, mother of Anthony Baez (killed in 1994)

Refreshments served at 3pm. Program starts promptly at 3:30pm.
