Location

EDNY Courthouse

Brooklyn, NY 11201

Update: this hearing was previously scheduled for 11/9. This is the new date.

Join the Center for Constitutional Rights, Muslims for Just Futures, and allies in a solidarity call to support Urooj Rahman and attend her sentencing hearing in the Eastern District of New York, Courtroom 8D South.

Days after George Floyd’s murder by a Minneapolis police officer, Urooj, an attorney committed to social justice, joined tens of thousands of demonstrators in New York City in defense of Black lives. That night, she was arrested and eventually faced federal charges related to damaging an empty police vehicle. You can read more about Urooj’s case in a statement of support by allies and an open letter from Civil and Human Rights Organizations, Legal Associations, and Policy Institutes. Currently, Urooj is facing up to 5 years in federal prison with prosecutors calling for 18-24 months of prison time. She has already served 2 years under home confinement with limited mobility.

Join us in court to show that Urooj has a community of people supporting her. Muslims for Just Futures has created a sign-up form for RSVPs

Please note that the sentencing hearing is just for Urooj. Colin Mattis will be sentenced at a later date in EDNY.
