Pack the Court for United States of America and Vulcan Society, Inc., v. City of New York, starting Monday, Oct. 1st

For more than a decade, CCR has been challenging the fundamental inequality of the New York City Fire Department’s (FDNY) hiring and recruiting practices. Please join us at this critical fairness hearing starting Monday, October 1st, which will assess the fairness of a July 5, 2012  provisional court order providing compensatory relief to the thousands of Black and Latino New York City firefighter applicants who were denied jobs in the FDNY, in some cases for more than a decade, because of the City's racially discriminatory entrance exams.

At issue during the hearing next week: whether this order (which provides for back pay, retroactive seniority, and in some cases actual firefighter jobs) is fair and reasonable and should be fully accepted and approved.

What: Fairness hearing in USA and Vulcan Society, Inc. v. City of New York
When: Starting Monday, October 1st at 9:00 a.m. (will possibly go until Thursday, October 4th).
Where: Brooklyn Federal Courthouse, 225 Cadman Plaza East, Courtroom 4D.

CCR stands with the Vulcan Society (the fraternal organization of Black firefighters) to support  the approval of this order, which is a critical step towards achieving justice for the victims of the City's decades-long pattern of racially discriminatory hiring and will help to finally integrate the New York City Fire Department. Please join us.
