In 2001, NYC Muslim men were swept up in Post 9/11 raids, detained in abusive conditions and denied due process. For almost 6 Months, activists rallied each week in front of Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC).
Now in 2012, over 50,000 men and women languish in solitary confinement across the United States. Join us to remember and revitalize the struggle.
Where are the former MDC detainees now? How are they and their families? Who is held in MDC now and have the conditions improved? Is the abusive use of long term solitary confinement increasing? Come discuss these issues and more; featuring CCR Staff Attorney Rachel Meeropol.
