Evening discussion with Katherine Gallagher, CCR Staff Attorney and Laura Raymond, CCR International Human Rights Associate. The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) serves as co-counsel in multiple cases against the private military contractors in Iraq. Saleh v. Titan, Al Shimari v. CACI , and Al-Quraishi v. Nakhla are three federal cases brought on behalf of Iraqi torture survivors that charge CACI International and L-3 Services with torture and other heinous and illegal acts in Abu Ghraib and other prisons in Iraq. Abtan, et al. v. Blackwater and Albazzaz and Aziz v. Blackwater are two lawsuits against Blackwater (recently renamed Xe) for, among other allegations, war crimes and wrongful death in Iraq. Come learn about these closely watched human rights lawsuits: Who are the plaintiffs? What are the allegations? Where do the cases stand today?

There will be a Q&A portion and we will discuss the issue of private military contractors in general and how you can become involved in CCR’s advocacy work around this critical issue.
