Location

There is an intense national debate on police violence, brutality and racial justice. The nascent Black Lives Matter movement is thinking critically about how we can better promote respect and dignity for the communities that police departments serve. On February 4, we’ll talk about what’s happening in New York with our stop-and-frisk lawsuit, the significance of the recent NYPD Inspector General report on the NYPD use of chokeholds, the local and national movements, and CCR’s role in them.   What: Short discussion, Q & A, and a chance to mix and mingle. CCR staff will discuss where we are in the world of policing, in New York and beyond. When: Wednesday, February 4, at 6:00 p.m. Where: Von Bar, 3 Bleecker Street, near Bowery. Train to Broadway-Lafayette (B D F M), 2nd Ave. (F) or Bleecker (6) stations. Please Note: Cash bar with happy hour specials. This venue has stairs. Come out for a drink and learn more about why this moment is unique and critical in the long-term fight for racial justice. -See you there!
