CCR Bertha Fellow Omar Shakir and Palestine Legal Staff Attorney Rahul Saksena will discuss the historical, comparative, and theoretical context of Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS). Shakir will address how and why the movement developed and how other movements have deployed it to challenge institutional discrimination. Saksena will cover past and current legislative efforts to suppress and punish BDS activism in the United States and organizing and advocacy against those efforts.

The global BDS movement against the state of Israel for violations of international law is a critical tool in the struggle for Palestinian rights.
