On Wednesday, September 14, 2022, the lead plaintiff in the Center for Constitutional Rights case White Hat v. Landry, Anne White Hat—a Sicangu, Lakota Water Protector based in Louisiana—will testify to the House Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties. In her testimony Ms. White Hat will expose the tactics used by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), oil and gas industry groups, corporate-backed lawmakers, and police agencies to isolate, attack, and silence the movement to stop fossil fuel extraction.
