Since the 2009 coup d'etat, wide sectors of Honduran society have formed a diverse opposition to the coup regime. This resistance movement has faced severe political repression; scores of political murders have taken place and resistance leaders report constant surveillance and threats. Yet this situation has been virtually ignored by much of the world outside of Honduras, and the United States continues to support the regime financially and politically.

Providing an overview of the Honduran resistance movement and the on-going crisis facing the country will be Gerardo Torres, a leader of the National Front of Popular Resistance (Frente Nacional de Resistencia Popular) of Honduras. We will also discuss ways people in the United States can be in solidarity with the movement there.
We will be playing a clip from We Are Not Afraid: Inside the Coup in Honduras, the first feature documentary film about the Honduran Resistance.

Sponsored by the Center for Constitutional Rights, Judson Memorial Church and CISPES
