CCR Senior Staff Attorney Maria Lahood will engage the audience after a screening of the film Dirty Wars on Friday, November 22 at 7:00 pm. This film and discussion will open the Impugning Impunity: A Human Rights Documentary Film Series presented by the Abraham Lincoln Brigade Archives (ALBA) and co-sponsored by the Center for Constitutional Rights. It will be followed by a reception.

Who: Discussion with Maria LaHood, a Senior Staff Attorney at the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) who specializes in international human rights litigation. She is co-counsel in Al-Aulaqi v. Panetta, a federal lawsuit challenging the U.S. government’s killing of three American citizens whose stories are featured in Dirty Wars. Maria also works on the Right to Heal campaign with U.S. veterans, Iraqi human rights organizations and their allies demanding that the U.S. Government be held accountable for the lasting effects of war. She also represented Canadian citizen Maher Arar in Arar v. Ashcroft, a case against U.S. officials for sending him to Syria where he was tortured and detained for a year.
