The Center for Constitutional Rights and CUNY Law Review will host a panel to discuss use of creative advocacy and lawyering to challenge dominant political narratives. There will be a special screening of “Waiting for Fahd,” a rarely heard story of Guantánamo prison and one man’s dream deferred. About the Film
Tucked amid the jagged mountain ranges of Yemen resides the sleepy town of Bayt Ghazy. Home to an idyllic agrarian community, it also provides the backdrop for the heartrending documentary “Waiting for Fahd,” which tells the story of Fahd Ghazy, a Yemeni national unlawfully detained at Guantánamo since he was 17. Fahd is now 30.

Through moving interviews with his beloved family, “Waiting for Fahd” paints a vivid portrait of the life that awaits a man who, despite being twice cleared for release, continues to languish at Guantánamo, denied his home, his livelihood, and his loved ones because of his nationality.
