Please join CCR and CUNY School of Law’s CLEAR Project for oral argument before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in Tanvir v. Tanzin, our case challenging the FBI’s abuse of the government’s No-Fly List to coerce American Muslims into spying on their religious communities. CLEAR’s Ramzi Kassem will be arguing the case on behalf of the Plaintiffs-Appellants. Oral arguments begin in Courtroom 1703 at 10:00 a.m., and Tanvir is the second argument of the morning.

In September 2015, a district court judge dismissed our clients’ claims that damages should be available under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 (RFRA). The judge reasoned that even if the FBI agents violated the Constitution, RFRA does not allow money damages for violations of religious freedom the men suffered. Three of our clients appealed the decision asserting that most other courts have ruled that it does. They continue to seek accountability for what was done to them.
