CCR is a proud community sponsor of Sanctuary presented by  The Dream Unfinished on Friday July 27, 2018 at 7pm. Sanctuary is a festival of music celebrating artists who identify as immigrants or first generation Americans. The festival will culminate in a season finale at Saint Peter’s Church, a member church of New York City’s New Sanctuary Coalition. Guest appearances by Ninaj Raoul of Haitian Women for Haitian Refugees, Ravi Ragbir of New Sanctuary Coalition, Carlene Pinto of New York Immigration Coalition and Fahd Ahmed of DRUM (Desis Rising Up and Moving).

Other community partners include Arco CollaborativeHaitian Roundtable, MinKwon Center For Community Action and National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum.

The event features the music of George Walker, Vijay Iyer, Tania Leon, Kareem Roustom and Huang Ruo. Guest artists include violinist Jennifer Koh, composer and pianist Vijay Iyer, and baritone Wayne Arthur Paul. The event will be hosted by WQXR’s Terrance McKnight. The headline concert on July 27 is a co-production with new music ensemble Contemporaneous. The musical program, conducted by David Bloom, will include New York premieres of works by Vijay Iyer, Kareem Roustom and George Walker, and performances of works by Tania León and Huang Ruo.

The Dream Unfinished: An Activist Orchestra's mission is to use classical music to engage audiences in dialogues surrounding social justice.
