Join North Carolina Stop Torture Now (NCSTN) as they confront Aero Contractors, the CIA's not-so-secret "torture flight" service, in their own backyard.

Time 12:30 PM - 5:00 PM

Aero Contractors, Ltd. is one of the private companies linked to the Bush administration program of extraordinary rendition, a phrase that disguises the kidnap, detention and torture of individuals alleged to be enemies of the United States, including those guilty of nothing other than being misidentified. Aero Contractors' headquarters is located at the Johnston County Airport near Smithfield, NC.

Schedule of Actions

  • 12:30pm March to Smithfield. Gather at 125 S. Fourth Street, Smithfield, NC
  • 2pm Rally at Smithfield Town Commons at 200 S. Front Street, located near I-95 & US 70

Speakers include: Sgt. Jimmy Massey, Iraq War Veteran; Youth Leaders from the NCSTN Coalition; Art Eccleston, psychologist; Jerry Surh, History Professor; Center for Theology and Social Analysis Performance by Hip Hop Education

  • 3:30pm March to Aero Contractors at Johnston Co. Airport
Join us as we carry portraits of torture victims to the gates of Aero Contractors.
Videography Contest: $100 prize to whomever best captures the essence of the rally, march and remembrance in a 5-10 minute video or montage.
