When the Abu Ghraib photos surfaced in 2004, they exposed a system of torture and humiliation of Iraqi detainees that reached far beyond Abu Ghraib to other prisons and involved both military personnel and private contractors. Currently, CCR is litigating Al-Quraishi v. Nakhla, a lawsuit against L-3 Services, a U.S. corporation contracted by the military to provide translation services and its former employee Adel Nakhla, for their participation in brutal acts of torture in more than 25 prisons in Iraq.

Join us on Monday, March 9, 2009, 11:30am, at U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland to demand that L-3 Services and Adel Nakhla be held accountable for the crimes they committed in Iraq prisons.

The lawsuit, filed in 2008 by CCR and a team of lawyers, including Susan Burke of Burke O’Neil LLC and Shereef Akeel of Akeel & Valentine, PLC, asserts that translators employed by L3 Services, including Adel Nakhla, instigated, aided or participated in horrific, illegal acts in Iraqi prisons, causing lasting physical and mental injury to their victims.
