Please join CCR for an important hearing in our case, Al Shimari v. CACI, a federal lawsuit brought in 2008 on behalf of Iraqi torture victims against U.S. government contractor CACI Premier Technology, Inc.

In June 2017, District Court Judge Leonie Brinkema affirmed that war crimes, torture, and cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment  are well-recognized and definable and thus fall within the court’s jurisdiction under the Alien Tort Statue, and ordered both parties to brief whether the record supports a finding that the Plaintiffs suffered these violations.

This will be the first hearing in the course of the case that CCR will have an opportunity to present in detail the torture and serious mistreatment our clients suffered at Abu Ghraib. CCR Legal Director Baher Azmy will argue that Plaintiffs have submitted sufficient evidence in support of their claims that CACI violated domestic criminal and international law when it conspired to seriously mistreat our clients and that the case should move forward to determine the claims on their merit. You can find our briefing regarding Defendants’ motion to dismiss on the Al Shimari v. CACI case page.

Motions hearings begin at 10:00AM. Visitors must enter the courthouse through the building's main entrance on Courthouse Square, and will be required to go through security and show a photo ID issued by a government agency.

**Please note that members of the public are prohibited from bringing cell phones, computers, and all other personal electronic devices into the courthouse.**
