Join the Center for Constitutional Rights, Amnesty International USA, Justice for Muslims Collective, and Witness Against Torture for a discussion of Trump’s Guantánamo. Doors open at 6:00pm and the program will begin at 6:30 pm. The event is free and open to the public. RSVP on Eventbrite and share the Facebook event with your friends.

Trump’s intentions are clear: the prison is staying open, as is the possibility of sending a new wave of prisoners there. Many are bracing themselves for the next big thing to happen at Guantánamo, but what about what’s happening now?

Forty men remain imprisoned—they are an aging and tortured population that has been deprived of due process and fair trials for over a decade. For some former prisoners, who are living peacefully in countries that resettled them under the Obama administration, their future is now in jeopardy. And Gina Haspel’s recent confirmation as CIA Director sends a dangerous message of total impunity for torture.

Join us for a discussion with organizers, lawyers, and advocates to discuss the issues and obstacles affecting the work to call for accountability for the U.S. torture program, connect Guantánamo to Trump’s broader anti-Muslim agenda, and close the prison once and for all.

Speakers:
Pardiss Kebriaei, Center for Constitutional Rights
Daphne Eviatar, Amnesty International USA
Dr. Maha Hilal, Justice for Muslims Collective
Moderated by Aliya Hussain, Center for Constitutional Rights

The event will take place the evening before oral argument in Al Bihani v. Trump, a mass legal challenge to Trump’s Guantánamo policies.
