Join CCR's senior staff attorney, Pardiss Kebriaei along with Nisha Kapoor, Murtaza Hussain, Maryam Jamshidi & Arun Kundnani to launch Nisha Kapoor's new book, 'Deport, Deprive, Extradite: 21st Century State Extremism'

In 2012 five Muslim men - Babar Ahmad, Talha Ahsan, Khalid al-Fawwaz, Adel Abdul Bary, and Abu Hamza - were extradited from Britain to the U.S. to face terrorism-related charges. Fahad Hashmi was deported a few years before. Abid Naseer and Haroon Aswat would follow shortly. They were subject to pre-trial incarceration for up to seventeen years, police brutality, secret trials, secret evidence, long-term detention in solitary confinement, citizenship deprivation and more.

Nisha Kapoor, Murtaza Hussain, Maryam Jamshidi, Arun Kundnani & Pardiss Kebriaei discuss the authoritarian security state under the War on Terror- how the UK and U.S. governments inflict these measures upon racialized communities, systemically dehumanizing them to protect state interest.

As part of the event, we will hold a film showing of ‘The Eyes of Aliyah’ and ‘Aaden and the Spiders’, two short films both directed by Ken Fero for the Deport Deprive Extradite Project. There will be a discussion and Q&A to follow.

Wine and beer will be served.
