What does the future hold for Guantánamo under the Trump administration? 

CCR and Morgan Lewis invite you to a discussion and reception with the contributors of Obama’s Guantánamo: Stories from an Enduring Prison. The collection of essays describes President Obama’s failure to close the offshore detention center and the costs of that failure for those still imprisoned there and the implications for future U.S. policy and human rights. 

Fifteen years after the first prisoners arrived at Guantánamo, misconceptions still shape the conversation around the prison and the men detained. Join us for a conversation with Obama’s Guantánamo contributors and hear their rich accounts of representing Guantánamo detainees and travelling to the island prison.

Their stories span 15 years, and now three administrations, and together they provide a human portrait of Guantánamo—the despair, hope, and perseverance of the prisoners and their pro bono lawyers in ongoing efforts to challenge indefinite detention within a Kafkaesque legal system, and advocate in the court of public opinion.
