The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) and the Islamic Center at NYU (ICNYU) invite you to a conversation with Linda Sarsour, Executive Director of the Arab American Association of NY and co-founder of MPowerChange.org, and nationally-renowned civil rights activist Wahy-ud Deen Shareef, Imam of Masjid Waarith ud Deen in Irvington, NJ, convenor of the Council of Imams of New Jersey, and a plaintiff in the Hassan v. City of New York, about countering Islamophobia in the U.S. CCR's Legal Director, Baher Azmy, will moderate the discussion, which will address the following questions:

  • Why are we seeing a surge in Islamophobia in the U.S. and what has been the impact on Muslim communities?
  • How can Muslims develop coalitions with other communities in recognition of our shared struggles against injustice?
  • How are Muslim communities challenging Islamophobia and what are some immediate actions we can take to counter this hate?

This event is FREE, but RSVP is required. There will be an Isha prayer after the event and attendees are welcome to join. Seating in the Islamic Center is on the floor. Please indicate in your RSVP whether you will need a chair. See the ICNYU Prayer Room information page for more details. Hope to see you there!
