CCR has led the legal battle to close Guantánamo for nearly 14 years, representing clients in two Supreme Court cases and organizing and coordinating hundreds of pro bono lawyers across the country, ensuring that nearly all the men detained at Guantánamo have had the option of legal representation. This movement has been called one of the greatest mass defense efforts in U.S. history. 

Come hear about the history of Guantánamo Bay prison, from the Bush years to today, from those who have led the fight to close it. CCR staff will share the stories of two clients--one who was released in 2006 and is rebuilding his life, and one who still desperately awaits his freedom and has been on an eight-year hunger strike in order to obtain it. With just one year left of President Obama’s presidency, we are at a critical moment. Learn what we need to do to close Guantánamo and bring an end to indefinite detention.
