Freedom Flicks Presents: Camp X-Ray

Registration is closed for this event

January 11 marks the 14th anniversary of the opening of the Guantánamo Bay prison, an offshore facility created to isolate, dehumanize, and indefinitely detain Muslim men and boys swept up in post-9/11 fervor. The overwhelming majority of those that remain detained have never been charged with a crime.

This month, as part of our Freedom Flicks series, CCR invites you to a free screening of Peter Sattler’s Camp X-Ray, starring Kristen Stewart. Camp X-Ray focuses on the story of private first-class Amy Cole and the relationship she forges with a Guantánamo detainee, allowing her to see through the many misconceptions about the prison and the men being held there. We hope you can join us for this special feature-length presentation along with a short conversation with CCR Senior Staff Attorney Pardiss Kebriaei. Please arrive at 6:30pm as seating is limited.

With just one year left for President Obama to fulfill his campaign promise to close Guantánamo, we are at a critical juncture. This screening is part of a month of programming highlighting CCR’s trailblazing work to close Guantánamo and end indefinite detention.
