Testimony before Presidential Task Force on 21st Century Policing

For almost two decades through litigation, legislative advocacy, research, and social movement support, CCR has challenged and sought to reform abusive and discriminatory policing policies and practices in New York City and across the country. CCR has engaged with the President Obama's Task Force on 21st Century Policing through the submission of written and oral testimonies.

During the Task Force's January 30, 2015 Task Force Listening Session on Policy and Oversight, CCR's Senior Staff Attorney Darius Charney presented and submitted written testimony.

CCR also submitted an organizational testimony before the January 13, 2015 Task Force Listening Session on Building Trust and Legitimacy.

As noted in this organizational testimony, "CCR welcomed the Task Force’s engagement on what we see as a timely and necessary conversation on the future of policing, and we appreciate the opportunity to provide recommendations for  reconciliation, trust-building and reform of policing practices and culture to better promote respect and dignity for the communities that police departments serve."
