Stop-and-Frisk Attorneys Encouraged by Carter Appointment

December 30, 2013, New York – In response to the announcement that Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio has selected former United States Attorney Zachary Carter as incoming Corporation Counsel for the City of New York, the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) issued the following statement: 
The appointment of Zachary Carter is encouraging news for those seeking to end racially discriminatory policing and the abuses of stop and frisk. We look forward to working with Mayor de Blasio and Corporation Counsel Carter to develop and implement the reforms ordered by the court in our landmark Floyd v. City of New York caseTogether, we have the opportunity to create a better, safer city that respects the rights of all of its residents.
