On January 7, 2013 the U.S. District Court in Springield heard oral arguments from both sides with reprentatives from SMUG and Ugandan LGBTI activists present in the front row of the courtroom. The Court's ruling on the Motion to Dismiss is currently pending.
Ms. Spees will discuss the pending case and the emerging role of U.S. courts as a venue for protecting human rights abroad.
