The Center for Constitutional Rights and NYU Press invite you to a discussion and reception celebrating the launch of Obama’s Guantánamo: Stories from an Enduring Prison. The collection of essays describes the failure to close America’s offshore detention center and the costs of that failure for those still imprisoned there. With the end of his presidency less than a year away, will that failure be Obama’s legacy? 

Join us for a discussion with Obama’s Guantánamo contributors, who offer rich first-hand accounts of defending Guantánamo detainees and travelling to the island prison. Together, their stories provide a picture of Guantánamo during the Obama administration—political missteps and bureaucratic inaction, force-feeding of hunger-striking clients, litigation within a Kafka-esque legal system, and advocacy in the court of public opinion.

The event is free, but registration is required. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., and the program will begin at 6:30 p.m. Following the discussion, guests are invited to a reception with light refreshments and drinks.
