An email from Fox News offered this as the reason for Fox's decision not to run the ad:
"TO: Owen Henkel
FROM: Erin Kelly
SUBJECT: Approval
We cannot approve the spot with it being Danny Glover's opinion that the Bush Administration is destroying the Constitution. If you have documentation that it is indeed being destroyed, we can look at that. Sorry about that."
Maybe we are crazy, but we thought that it was clearly metaphorical: CCR is not claiming that George Bush broke into the National Archives, stole the 300-year-old document, and physically put it into a shredder.
But apparently Fox News takes the word "destroy" very seriously... Just like when Sean Hannity said, "And it's part of the Democratic goal to destroy George W. Bush." (11/15/07)
