Biography

Lauren Melodia joined the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) in 2005, where she organizes the New York Campaign for Telephone Justice among other things. She works to fight the abuse of power and build collective resistance both in her work at CCR and in her community. She started and currently facilitates the Bed-Stuy Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, a neighborhood consumers’ cooperative that purchases certified naturally grown produce from a local farmer of color. She is also an organizing consultant to Farmers of the World, which organizes migrant workers and immigrant farmers to start their own agricultural businesses. Prior to her time at CCR, Lauren organized public housing residents in New York City and worked at Amnesty International USA’s Business & Human Rights Program.
